LESS AIR POLLUTION FOR BIKERS THAN DRIVERS

It is commonly asserted that in the U.S. and abroad, deaths from air pollution exceed deaths from traffic accidents. Asthma rates in the U.S. have tripled in the last two decades in the U.S. in large part because of air pollution.

According to the Wisconsin DNR, in the course of a day we each breathe about 22,000 times. Also according to the DNR, there were eight counties in Wisconsin that could not meet ozone standards. Those include: Door, Kenosha, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Sheboygan, Washington and Waukesha.

Believe it or not, Denmark claims to lose 200-500 people per year to noise pollution. They die as a result of premature heart disease and high blood pressure caused by traffic noise.

The above is even more reason to ride your bike. In addition to the health benefits from exercise, you will be breathing less polluted air. Yes, that's right, you actually breath more polluted inside your car whilst driving that when you are outside riding your bike (because the air in an indoor space does not clean itself).

GO RIDE!
