GPS PREVENTS BIKE THEFT

At the University of Minnesota, the police are planting bikes with GPS units in high theft areas. The GPS units in the bikes are $1,000 + a monthly monitoring fee. Police say the planted bikes will cut down on bike theft and cite a similar program that was performed at the UW Madison where thefts went down 30%.
